First convening of the Steering Committee

The first convening of the Steering Committee of the India Forum for Nature-based Solutions agreed upon governance structures and the roles and responsibilities of the Steering Committee, the Secretariat and the Task Forces. The partners committed to ‘Climate Proofing 100 million residents and infrastructure worth $100 billion in Indian cities by 2030.’ This sets a clear timebound ambition to mainstream ecosystem services and nature-based solutions to build urban climate resilience in India. The Steering Committee also constituted four taskforces:

Collective Building – For engaging with stakeholders at all levels and garnering greater interest towards the Forum and its activities.

Knowledge – For developing relevant knowledge products and tools to fill the knowledge gaps that currently exist in the urban NbS ecosystem.

Capacity Building – Capacitating key stakeholders through multiple modes of training, covering a wide array of key knowledge subjects.

Private Sector Engagement – Engage with the private sector to facilitate cross-learning and drive the operationalisation of potential urban NbS projects.
