Deepti Talpade is a Program Manager with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. Here she supports the Mumbai Climate Action Plan and enables an environment for nature-based solutions in the city.
Prior to joining WRI India, Deepti worked as a consultant for CRISIL and GIZ. There her work focused on increasing green cover to mitigate climate change in Coimbatore under the Climate Smart Cities project. She has also worked with the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat on climate resilient WASH and energy efficient practices for small towns. Deepti started her career by working on the Dharavi People’ plan at the Design Cell, Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA) and Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centers(SPARC). Her passion for working on bottom-up approaches towards urban development has grown ever since. She has worked on the Development Plan 2014-34 with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and was engaged with many not-for-profit organizations like Pani Haq Samiti, Institute for Sustainability, London, and Good Governance India Foundation (Municipalika) focusing on sustainable development.
Deepti holds a bachelor’s as well as a master’s in Architecture (Urban Design) from KRVIA, Mumbai University and an M.Sc. in Urban Management from the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University, Netherlands.
She loves performance arts and has a keen interest in ceramics and pottery. Deepti also enjoys trekking.
