Priya Narayanan is the Program Manager – Urban Forestry & Urban Development at WRI India. She is based in Bengaluru. Her primary focus is on the Cities4Forests project where she plays a coordinating role across teams within WRI and with the stakeholders on ground to fulfil the project goals (To conserve, manage and restore forests). Her work entails research, communication, outreach, capacity building and overall coordination of the day to day operations for the project.
Prior to joining WRI, Priya worked with GIZ, India in Chennai on the Access and Benefit Sharing Project. She played a key role in supporting the activities of the Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Board, identifying, engaging key stakeholders and building their capacity on the different provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. Priya has also worked with the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management where she had the opportunity to work across multiple projects that focussed on co evolving socio ecological systems.
As a Geographer by training, Priya has a Ph.D. from TERI University, New Delhi where her research involved studying the aerosol – cloud- rainfall interactions in India. Her Master’s degree in Geography is from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Bachelor’s degree in Geography is from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
